When marathon season is on the horizon, Nike tends to manufacture specific footwear patterns for its jogging and lifestyle classes to honour numerous cities hosting the epic 26.2-mile event. In 2022, the company has elected to shine a light on New York City with an officially unveiled Air Huarache “Run NYC” colourway. Even though headquartered in Beaverton, Nike has made New York the 2nd home of sorts, planting themselves right on sixth Ave. And to provide back to the city that welcomed them all those years ago, the company has delivered many an exceptional tribute, from colourways influenced through iconic parks to collaborations with liked pizza joints like Scarr’s. Here, their love letter continues with the upcoming Air Huarache “Run NYC,” which nods to the 5 boroughs.

In tandem with the “NYC” markings on the laces, the pair shows a unique emblem lockup on the insole. The image casts a bridge simply in the front of what appears to be the Empire State, whilst “RUN NYC” and “5 Borough Tour” sit down above and below, respectively. The tongue tag, too, has been swapped out for Huarache’s OG branding. Moreover, the colourway is nostalgic similarly, as it lays retro shades underneath and adjoining white leather and black neoprene. Neutral hits also get some action here as the nubuck overlays are finished up in a muted white, whilst the tongues and exterior of the bootie come submerged in black.
