Air Jordan 1 Low OG Doernbecher Riddhi Mahajan

In October of this year, Nike unveiled its 18th annual Doernbecher Freestyle Collection for 2023. Six remarkable young designers had the opportunity to collaborate with one another and put forth some exceptional pieces – among them was Riddhi Mahajan who reimagined the iconic Air Jordan 1 Low OG in a unique way. Tony Mui from SoleSavy is working alongside OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital on unveiling these works of art. Here he provides us with an exclusive look into Mahajan's masterpiece, the Air Jordan 1 Low OG Doernbecher Riddhi Mahajan!

For the 2019 release, Mahajan's shoe offers a bit of a modern look compared to most other Doernbechers. The design was inspired by her profile picture on Instagram, which is of her and her sister riding bikes in San Francisco. Accordingly, she designed the shoes to resemble two wheels with red accents along the sides acting as air bubbles. In addition, multiple symbols, such as basketballs and flowers, were used throughout, all while paying homage to Nike's Air Max 97 Ultra '17 silhouette. Also, read the Complete Guide of AJ1.

In crafting her unique pair of shoes, Riddhi Mahajan left no detail uncovered. She blended various materials to form the upper - an angelic smooth leather in the mid-foot, deep forest green nubuck at the throat, toe tips, and grassy overlays across the forefoot for stunning visual contrast. These shoes boast inspiring words such as "Radiate Positivity" and “Brand New Day” in mismatching fonts, embellishing the Swooshes and toe boxes, respectively. The left sneaker exchanges its tongue Nike branding for a sun symbol while adding vibrant flower designs to the lateral heel areas. Even more, colour is provided by way of multi-hued laces!

Although no release date has been specified, these must-have Air Jordan 1 Low OG Doernbecher Riddhi Mahajan are expected to hit shelves in early 2023.
