Nike Air More Uptempo Animal DZ4838-100

Swoosh Brand’s Air More Uptempo is, perhaps, one of the most polarizing signature basketball sneakers ever made. The Nike Air More Uptempo is slowly gaining popularity, especially due to it being ripped off by Asspizza. For its latest Fall/Winter collection, the silhouette is mixing and matching different patterns, resulting in a colourway that's similar to the Swoosh's extensive Nike Air More Uptempo Animal catalogue but much more eccentric. Maintaining its traditional aesthetic, the basketball sneaker is rendered in black with a full-fledged safari print that's noticeable across its entire upper. However, it's subtly intermixed between the solid black backdrop and white accents placed on the textured midsole unit and rear Jumpman logo.

The stark white base provides a clean and balanced canvas for the eye-catching, mismatched letters. The letters take centre stage, boldly alternating between animal materials and prints, including olive snakeskin to the suede cheetah. The bold “AIR” branding on the side panels has turned heads since it was first released in 1996 during Scottie Pippen’s second season with the Chicago Bulls and subsequent championship run, but this year’s Air More Money highlighted that moniker doesn’t have to be so loud. While many would recall the more subtle teal-and-black colourway from weeks prior as a quiet release, by comparison, Nike has continued to experiment and push the limits of its mid-90s design.
