"Hender Scheme" hasn't been commonly mentioned in sneaker conversations over the past few years. Still, the Tokyo-based brand established itself enough last decade to now be associated with any light tan leather sneakers. Recently, the New Balance 2002R Tan came out in a colour scheme and build that looks strikingly similar to Hender Scheme's shoes which were once sold for $1,000 USD each. Base layers are a soft brown hue and leather material, an uncommon choice for the 2002R.

Two different sets of overlays also opt for shades of brown, creating one of the most creative sets of colour names from recent memory – “Toast,” “Tawny Birch,” “Apricot Illusion” – as well as a high-quality leather and suede arrangement.

The latest pair from New Balance boasts a leather inner lining, which will provide a unique fit with wear. This differentiates it from the performance-running-informed propositions of the past. The shoes also feature a mix of suede, nubuck and mesh on the upper. Underfoot, ENCAP cushioning is present in white, with an additional brown strip featured midfoot for functional grip.
