Closer Look At The sacai x Nike Cortez OG

Take a Closer Look At The sacai x Nike Cortez OG. Following a first look at the start of the year, we now have detailed imagery of the upcoming Sacai x Nike Cortez. We will see this alongside sacai’s Pre-Fall Women’s and Fall and Winter 2022 Men’s collections. The collab serves as designer Chitose Abe’s contribution to Nike’s 50th-anniversary celebrations of the Cortez this year. This sacai x Nike Cortez will be one of several Cortez releases celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Nike Cortez. Additionally, this particular sacai x Nike Cortez is also said to be one of a few colourways of the collab dropping later this year.

Opting for the OG Cortez colour scheme, this sacai x Nike Cortez starts with a White nylon base paired with Grey suede overlays on the toe, eyestay and heel. The Cortez aesthetic comes to life with the help of the Red and Blue contrasting accents found throughout the design. In true sacai fashion, the double-layered motif is spotted on the lining, laces, heel overlays, Swoosh branding, midsole and eyestay. Dual branding appears on the heel, while the visible Zoom Air in the forefoot is undoubtedly the unique feature of this sacai x Nike collab.

The sacai x Nike Cortez builds on Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman’s design from 1972, featuring the OG colour blocking. The shoe’s uppers feature a white leather base accented by grey suede overlays and red/blue accents. And while long-forgotten, the two models show a side to the label we haven’t seen in a long while, one that rears its head with their next silhouette of choice: the Cortez. Unlike sacai’s Waffle-soled classic and subsequent VaporWaffle, this pair is not akin to one of Frankenstein’s monsters.

sacai x Nike’s co-branding is stamped onto the red heel tab. While the sneaker is complete with Zoom Air bubbles at the forefoot. Additional detailing comes in Sacai’s signature stacked design with layered overdesigned sole units marked by Zoom Air bubbles at the forefoot. The excitement over these beautiful perforated trainers is immaculate right now. And it’s only an affair of time before the sneakers take over the paths. Before the LDWaffle — which effectively moulded sneaker culture’s impression of Chitose Abe’s work. Sacai released an Air Max 90 and Dunk High, which were far simpler than anything they’ve put out recently. The design arrives with a white upper, accompanied by pale grey suede overlays on the lacing system and heel. Chitose Abe’s signature double-stacked details on the Swoosh, tongue and midsoles feature bold blue tones.

Rather, the model is far more straightforward, relying on the classic design of the Cortez. Even the colourway is reminiscent of Bill Bowerman’s creation, opting for white leathers and red and blue accents. It’s then that Chitose Abe applies her touch: the Swooshes are doubled, and the sole is futuristic. Stacked and improved with additional cushioning, the shoe itself seems to have not one but two uppers.
