Now, for 2022, the two are bringing their pace back and getting the cut-out “Décortiqué” form to the traditional Leather Tabi Low.

Alongside, the felt liner that’s normally out of view is made visual across both the silo and heel counter. The latter is dismantled so that the gaps and heel cap are fully on show. As for Club C, it is also taken asunder, with the heel tab, cross-check, and eyelet tab, which undergoes a deduction process. Pen markings, seen as these, are peeled back, while the neighbour’s pieces feature the decortiqué, a style that entails cutting up an item to reveal its layout.

Similar to Margiela’s past contributions, these trainers build off what is already there. So portions of this collection borrow from the similar-named high tops from June of last year. And so, by just applying the Décortiqué idea to a low-top form. Constructed by creative director John Galliano, this scheme reconstructs a piece to its architectural structure.
