When New Balance collaborates, fans can not stop making the queue to grab the pair longer! One of its collaborators that starts this never-ending cop line is Salehe Bembury. The American footwear designer took to his Instagram to announce an official release date and introduce his latest campaign with the NB team. Their venture, New Balance 990v2 “Sand Be the Time”, Marks Another Project That Is Hitting The Shelves Soon.

This June, Bembury first gave us a glimpse of the “Sand Be the Time” during Paris Fashion Week. Since then, the excitement only grew larger, thanks to his smart moves. For example, by seeding it out to his famous friends and sneaker influencers like Tyler “Arab Lincoln” Mansour. Since his first collaboration with NB, one thing has been confirmed: the designer is a master at amplifying excitement and teasing the fans to the next level before the official arrival!

However, his surprises do not end here. Recently, he revealed the accompanying campaign with the upcoming release. The campaign features famous bassist Thundercat riding a sledge down a dune. Furthermore, we can spot him making a series of funny facial expressions before the speed of his sledge blows his beanie off his head! At the same time, the scene includes the untying of his shoes! Afterwards, Thundercat fights off a smile and walks out of the frame. Bembury uses his network, so his New Balance campaign videos feature actor Jesse Williams and social media personality Austin Mahone in its past instalments.

In terms of the pair’s look, it receives sandy orange and pink-tinted suede. Conversely, mesh and rubber also construct the upper. Although it stays true to the past work, it introduces fresh air to the new catalogue. Besides, a purple tone hits the midfoot’s chenille N logo. Later on, other parts of the upper follow suit. On the other hand, a handful of hi-vis reflective silver appears on the forefoot. However, the key material change in this 990v2 and former iterations of the 1998 runner is the wide-gauge athletic mesh, which he replaces with the silhouette’s standard tightly-knit mesh.
