Union LA x Air Jordan 1 High OG: First Look

They are back, and how! The contemporary fashion and streetwear hub joins hands with Jumpman once again for a silo that drenches in the 2000s aesthetic. In this read, we present Union LA x Air Jordan 1 High OG: First Look to decide whether to cop the kicks or pass!

Union and Jordan Brand collaborated to create two of the most well-known and recognizable Air Jordan 1 collection in recent memory back in 2018. Rumours have it that a third iteration of the partnership will release this year. Scroll down to peek at the upcoming silo for the first time right here!

What’s the muse in use?

For the 2018 kicks, it was the DIY movement and thrifting that turned out to be the muse. While the sneakerdom was not used to seeing that kind of retro aesthetic it generated, the sneak fanatics could not help but be in awe of it! Cut to the latest silhouette, drawing inspo from a lifestyle running shoe introduced in the late 2000s, which features an asymmetrical lacing system!

What’s perfect in perfection? NGL, perfection is boring, and there is nothing that’s cooler than an imperfect, grunge aesthetic. The upcoming release oozes the vibe, and the sneakerheads could not get happier.

Decoding the deets

The L.A.-based boutique takes up MJ’s first signature sneaker 5 years later to redefine the summer of 2023. Clad in a colour scheme of Sail, Wolf Grey, Muslin, Pale Vanilla, Kinetic Green, and University Gold, the use of a thick woven strip around the mudguard, a clear tribute to the Air Footscape Woven, is what makes the 2023 design stand out.

For the colourway, it enjoys an OG-styled “Neutral Grey” makeup. Additional deets include Wolf Grey accents on the Swooshes, collars, “Nike Air” tongue tags, and the backs of the Wings, which boasts exposed Green stitching. Lastly, a two-tone aged-looking rubber sole and Union’s “UN/LA” signature badge on the lateral complete the style.
