Despite this, the company has already introduced a number of limited-edition products to mark the occasion, including collaborations with Stussy, Civilist Berlin, and likely Drake. This year’s Air Max Day will be especially momentous as it marks the 40th anniversary of the Nike Air Max 1. First released in 1987, the Air Max 1 was designed by Tinker Hatfield and introduced Nike’s visible Air technology to the world. The silhouette appears to be handmade, unlike how we're used to seeing it. The top is made of a thick, white thread that wraps all the way to the heel. On the other hand, the Swoosh and heel tab are built similarly but employ bright orange and blue colours instead. Elsewhere, the tongue (in its neon green finish), which is far more ordinary than you'd expect, contrasts with the worn-out sole below (indicated by its subtle speckling).
