Despite being wrongly regarded as the "Protection Pack," New Balance's highly anticipated “Refined Future” series, which first appeared with the 2002R in 2021, has become a mainstay of the brand. Welcoming a new year, New Balance continues to explore the art of pre-distressed designs on their 1906R silhouette. Just like Yue Wu's introductory "Refined Future" collection, these four newly-introduced New Balance 1906R Protection Pack Black styles remain true to his vision by combining hairy suede panels with airy mesh base layers for an optimal blend between lifestyle and performance wear.

Profile "N" logos add a bold contrast to the otherwise tonal uppers, while the lateral heel is solidified in stamps with "1906R" branding. Meanwhile, these iterations adopt a sole unit from another classic New Balance silhouette - the 2002R - for a refreshed underfoot experience. In addition, New Balance has switched things up this time around by including a set of streetwear-inspired laces and interchangeable top eyelets in the form of snap buttons.
