While only a few weeks are left in Latin Heritage Month, The Swoosh is putting its last touches on the roster of silhouettes based on the brand’s “Somos Familia” series – translating to “We Are Family” in English. Following the drop of an Air Force 1 and Air Trainer 1, The Swoosh is electing the Nike Dunk High for its contemporary foray into ornamental Hispanic imagery. National Hispanic Heritage Month is the time when we celebrate in the United States between September 15 and October 15 and praises Latin American lifestyle and history in all 52 States.

Nike is merging this year’s celebrations, remodelling their Dunk High and Air Max 1 for a pack recognised as ‘Somos Familia’. Which interprets as “We are family”. Following the unveiling of the Air Max 1 “Somos Familia,” Nike has kick-started a line-up of sneaker releases celebrating Latin Heritage Month. The 2nd pair to make its way into the pack is a Nike Dunk High of a similar moniker. The annual party recognises Hispanic Americans and their effect on current cultural practices.

Embarking on a split-canvas upper, the left wall of each sample renders a rich mocha colour. Whilst its right aspect proffers a jet-black construct in stark contrast. This contrast helps connect each disparate half. Easy leather-based overlays lengthen throughout the sample as its olive branch. The colourway bears titular golden yellow tones embellished with burnt orange debossed logos on the heels. An array of substances splatter on the pair as deep brown canvas units contact the toe boxes. And also, the medial panels are marked with common Latin embroidery in green and gold. Flip to the right side, and you’ll locate dominant black textiles embellished with white illustrations. Tan leather-based overlays add vibrancy to the offering, stamped with chic red suede Swooshes at the sides. The rear rocks a split layout with a padded ribbed end in contrasting tones.

The latter hue also treats the sample suede Swooshes, nylon sock liner, pull tab and racer stripe alongside the tongue earlier than floral embroidery. And so, rendering the brown-shaded wall with golden and lime green stitching. In contrast, the darkened side outfits have mild tan threading. So each shoe rounds off with an embroidered butterfly motif on the rear and ‘Somos Familia’ insoles.

Starting it off is the Dunk High, which boasts a mesh and leather-based mixture alongside embroidered patterned deets. The Air Max 1 hosts a range of suede, leather-based and burlap materials. Whilst the mudguard rocks floral debossed patterns. Underfoot, the sample concludes with a crisp white midsole and gum tread. Square symbolism embellishes the lateral heel counters. Whilst orange pull tabs and liners finish the layout collectively placed atop white sole gadgets and gum outsoles. No launch date has surfaced for the Dunk High and Air Max 1 ‘Somos Familia’. However, we suspect they will arrive through your local Swoosh stockist or Nike shop soon.
