The Chinese Lunar New Year arrives in January, welcoming the year of the rabbit. Along with incorporating Asian tradition in their designs, Nike frequently commemorates many of the continent’s most iconic holidays. And with Lunar New Year simply around the corner, the company has come up with a Dunk High gently dipped in Eastern influences. Unlike some of the Swoosh’s prior efforts, this upcoming Dunk High is plenty reserved. To honour the occasion, Nike is crafting a commemorative Nike Dunk High as part of its bigger auspicious releases that will arrive early in the following year. The upcoming pairs arrive in sleek and mild tones, showing “Summit White” leather-based uppers and suede panels in greyscale tones.

The sneaker features mild grey suede and white leather throughout the overlays and base. The Swoosh, in moderate contrast, is tinted ever-so-slightly cream. While the lining and returned pull-tab decide for a lush green that alludes to nature more like the icy blue bottom. Hairy suede substances use the “Desert Ore” Swooshes and “Evergreen” heel loops. Whilst gold tones splatters throughout the mountain art on the lateral heel and “golden mountain” in Japanese text on the glittered tongue tags. Rounding out the aesthetic are crisp white midsoles and icy translucent outsoles. And throughout the heel, this idea takes a similar form, as mountains are emblazoned onto the panel in a gilded finish.
