Top 20 Collaborations of Nike Air Jordan 1

Some sneakers stand out in the crowd with a bumpy graph, and Nike Air Jordan 1 is one such classic example. We are here to walk you through the hype-worthy collaborations of the celebrated brand. But before getting into this engaging and deep chronicle of almost thirty years, let me quickly take you through the history.

The ‘not so short’ story of Air Jordan 1

The' story of Air Jordan 1

To begin with, the most telling thing about the Air Jordan 1 is that it acquired a cult-like following because of Michael Jordan. But it wasn’t like the basketball player came in facilely. In the real sense, he was ‘hard to get’. Nike tried several stunts to woo Jordan and bring him into the brand. Surprisingly, Jordan’s favourite shoe at that point was Converse’s Chuck Taylor. He was more than looking forward to signing a deal with the shoe brand.

The story of Air Jordan 1

Nike approached Michael Jordan with a worthy deal of a $2.5-million-dollar endorsement contract and promised to make him the face of the brand. Puzzlingly, Jordan turned down the deal because he wasn’t happy with the design and feel of the shoes. MJ referred to them as ‘clown shoes’ and found the soles exceptionally thick. He demanded some vital changes before stepping into the brand. And Nike succumbed and happily made some switches to welcome Michael Jordan into the brand. That’s how Nike Air Jordan 1 was born, and the rest is history.

Nike Air Jordan low

Call them folk-friendly sneakers because they qualify to be an everyday staple with all the Jordan hues. Did I mention it at an affable price? To some, these runners can be mistaken as a twin to Nike Dunk Low, but they do have a zest of their own. With the Air Jordan low, you can enjoy the bounciness of a sole air unit and have an all-day comfort with no pinch in your pocket. The Ghost Green silhouette is a one helluva of a sneaker makeover. It is dressed in a tonal icy volt green colourway which can beautifully glow in the dark. Does that sound eye-popping enough?

The AJ 1 KO is embellished with a smooth leather upper, touched down with a padded nylon tongue subtly spelling Eilish’s trademark Bloshsh logo in a woven tag. The side panels are fortified with a magnificent swoosh, and some double-stitches make boundaries on the upper and give it a bit of texture. The branding is done in a bit of a unique way with the Air Jordan ball and wings logo sitting on the lateral collar flap. Don’t be surprised if you find some hints in some hidden places. ‘Billie Eilish’ is spelt out thoroughly on the mesh sockliner.

Not a twist in the tale, but here’s an interesting fact. The striking shade (neon green) resembles Eilish’s once coloured hair and wardrobe. Pretty cool, uh!

The team-inspired model is dressed in a black nubuck upper with black lateral and medial Swoosh decorating it further. A lightly padded tongue is incorporated with a Jumpman logo stealing the spotlight. A red tag reading ‘PANAME’ at the heel is seen spurting and certifying the collaboration.

The PSG branding is entrenched on the lace loop as well as the back of the heel. While the tongue flaunts a logo on the outside, it reads ‘Paname’ from the inside. Along with the contrasting embellishments, the sneakers steal the thunder with an uber-clean white sole. Interestingly, these silhouettes were divulged at Paris Fashion Week, clearly stating that they are scoring high in the fashion game.

BRED toe x Air Jordan 1 low

BRED toe x Air Jordan 1 low

The ‘Bred Toe’ AJ1 low is a significant inspiration from the colourway of Michael Jordan’s first signature shoe and Chicago Bulls. The low-top silo is dressed in the colour of the OG’ Black toe’ worn by MJ during his rookie season. But there is a tad of a twist. The original was seen with a white leather perforated toe. The remodelled one flaunts a Gym Red perforated toe with contrasting black leather overlays on the forefoot, toe cap and eyelets. In contrast, white panels contrast beautifully on the mid surface. The low-top carries a crimson toe box with an equalling finish on the collar and heel overlay.

The branding is boss-style with a splendid black Swoosh sitting on both sides and the heel flaunting the Air Jordan and the wing logo. The puffed black tongue is marked with a white embroidered Jumpman logo. Another distinct feature is the tonal take on Michael Jordan’s classic #23 spotted above the lace keeper.

The runners are swiftly supported with a white midsole, red rubber outsole and durable rubber cupsole. The outsole does its bit to spot the branding embellishments as well. NIKE with a Swoosh sits on the outsole and looks graceful.

The Diamond x Air Jordan 1 Mid is inspired by the recently revealed ‘Diamond’ style Jordan 1 low. The runners are in honour of the iconic Jordan Diamond basketball shorts. The special edition was released in a staple monochromatic palette to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the NBA.

Dressed in a simple colour blocking of black and white, the shoes are a nod to Michael Jordan’s foray into baseball. The pair features a white leather upper with a black blanket on the nubuck toe cap, eyelets, mid-panel, collar and forefoot. The white plays a pivotal role on the perforated toe, heel, mid-panel and collar. All of the construction sits white rubber midsole and a dusty translucent outsole. The back of the shoe is embraced with a back ‘Wing’ logo, and the tongue tag flaunts the ‘diamond’ logo. It almost mimics the design of the side of the Jordan Brand’s mesh basketball shorts.

The sides show off a bold black Swoosh interrupted by white stitches right in the middle. The beauty of the shoes is in some dainty details. Perhaps it’s another layer of Michaels’s legacy and therefore, present for the kids too.

The Air Jordan 1 low Fragment x Travis Scott is reminiscent of the archive Fragment collaborations. It’s an incredible teamwork with a blend of La Flame and Hiroshi Fujiwara’s signature details. You cannot resist setting your heart on with the one-of-a-kind colour blocking.

Just like the Air Jordan high of the same collaboration, these kicks also feature a white leather base with royal blue and black overlays. Quirkily, the upper is adorned with the Swoosh signature in different colourways and sizes. An oversized Swoosh decorates the lateral side in an off white shade, and a standard one is stitched onto the other side of the shoe. The classic silhouette has been a bit different with the branding. Find the heel tab of the left shoe flaunting the ‘Cactus Jack’ mark with a stamp of the rapper’s smiley face beneath. Does that sound eccentric? That’s not it. The heel of the right shoe is embossed with something different.
